Living with dementia, still living
A small, homely care home where the same faces look after your relative every day, and where care is shaped around who they have always been, not around a diagnosis.

We start with the person
We care for people living with dementia in a way that respects their life experience and cultural preferences. Someone who got up at five for a farm shift for forty years does not suddenly become someone who lies in. We work with who somebody has always been.
Before anyone moves in, the manager visits to carry out an assessment and build a care plan with the person and their family. We complete life-story work together, so every member of the team knows the names, places and routines that matter.
- Life-story work completed with the family before admission
- Consistent staffing, so faces and routines stay familiar
- Staff trained in dementia care, the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
- Meaningful occupation, not entertainment for its own sake
Familiar faces
With 23 rooms and a long-serving team, residents see the same people every day. Our Home Manager, Keira Pearce, has worked at Wispington House for more than twenty years.
A calm, homely setting
A converted country house with a lounge, dining room, large conservatory and extensive grounds with raised beds, so there is always somewhere quiet to be, or something to do.
Families involved
Families are welcome to visit seven days a week and are part of care planning from the first visit. If someone's needs change, we tell you honestly and early.
Dementia care at Wispington House
We are a residential care home, not a nursing home. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission for dementia care, and we were rated Good in all five of the CQC's key questions at our last inspection. For anything clinical we work closely with local GPs, district nurses and community mental health teams.
Respite stays and day care are also open to people living with dementia. They are a good way to get used to the home gradually, and to give the person caring at home a proper break. See respite care and day care.
Wispington House is on Mill Lane in Saxilby, six miles north-west of Lincoln off the A57. Families come to us from Saxilby, Lincoln, Gainsborough, Skellingthorpe, Sturton by Stow, North Hykeham and villages across West Lindsey.
Come and see how we care for people with dementia
The best way to judge a care home is to be in it. Call to book a look round with the manager, and bring your relative if they are able.
