Meet Keira Pearce
Home Manager — and here for more than twenty years
Welcome to Wispington House Care Home. I’m Keira Pearce, the Care Home Manager, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of the Wispington House family for over 20 years.
My career at Wispington House has taken me from Care Assistant, to Senior Carer, then Deputy Manager, and now to my current role as House Manager, which I have held for over 12 months. Having worked my way through the different roles within the home, I understand the importance of every member of our team and, most importantly, the difference they can make to our residents’ lives.
I hold a Level 4 qualification in Health and Social Care and am also a Swallowing, Oral and Nutrition Ambassador and first-aid trained. I have extensive experience in end-of-life care and supporting residents and their families through what can be some of the most difficult and important moments in their lives.
My approach to care
For me, excellent care is about much more than meeting someone’s care needs. It is about helping people to continue to live their lives with choice, dignity, independence and enjoyment.
I want our residents to feel that Wispington House is truly their home. A place where they feel comfortable, relaxed, safe and listened to.
I believe a great care home puts its residents and their individual needs first, with consistency, consideration and person-centred care at the heart of everything we do.
Supporting residents and families
Families are a hugely important part of life at Wispington House, and I believe keeping those relationships strong is essential.
We welcome families to visit their loved ones seven days a week, and we enjoy creating opportunities for residents and their families to spend time together. From our summer fayre and other events to the everyday visits and catch-ups, we want families to feel welcome and involved in life at the home.
As a manager, one of my priorities is making sure our residents receive safe, effective and compassionate care, with support always available when it is needed.
Why I love what I do
One of the things I enjoy most about my role is seeing residents continue to have fun and enjoy life, even as they reach the later stages of their lives.
I believe everyone deserves to have the best possible quality of life, and it is incredibly rewarding to see residents laughing, enjoying activities, spending time with others and simply being themselves.
I’m a very hands-on manager and remain very much involved in the day-to-day life of the home. I love getting out and about around Wispington House, catching up with residents, having a chat and finding out how they are doing. I think those everyday conversations are just as important as anything else we do.
After more than 20 years at Wispington House, this really is more than just a job to me. It’s a place I care deeply about, and I feel very lucky to have built my career here while getting to know so many wonderful residents, families and members of our team.
My aim is simple: to make Wispington House feel like home, and to make sure every resident receives the care, dignity, independence and quality of life they deserve.
